Kerala’s emergence as a global IT hub will get a major boost when Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala Shri Oommen Chandy inaugurates Infopark’s Phase II campus on May 6.
The ambitious Rs 2,500 crore phase II project is aimed at creating 8 million sq ft futuristic work space for IT/ITeS companies and generating about 80,000 job opportunities.The chief minister will dedicate the campus to the state in the presence of Hon’ble Minister for IT and Industries Shri P K Kunhalikutty and Leader of the Opposition Shri V S Achuthanandan at the inaugural ceremony on Wednesday at 5pm.
“In the first stage, over a million sq ft IT space will be ready by the end of 2015, which includes Infopark’s own IT building and Cognizant’s first phase building, construction of which is in final stages,” Infopark CEO Shri Hrishikesh Nair said. The Phase II project, spread across 160 acres, is envisioned as a walk-to-work township project, which includes facilities like hotels, shopping malls, international school, multiplexes, convention centres etc. It will also have facilities like eco-friendly green park, water treatment plant and sewage treatment plant.
Infopark has joined hands with several global IT companies and infrastructure developers like Cognizant Technologies, UST Global, Trans Asia, Muthoot Group, Media Systems, Claysys Technologies, Caspian Techparks and Padiyath Innovation for phase II development. Around 60 per cent of the land in the second phase has been leased out successfully to IT/ITeS companies and co-developers.Hon’ble Minister for Fisheries, Ports and Excise Shri K Babu, Hon’ble Minister for Public Works Shri V K Ebrahim Kunju, Chalakudy MP Shri Innocent, Shri V P Sajeendran MLA, Shri Benny Behanan MLA, Industries and IT Principal Secretary Shri P H Kurian and Ernakulam District Collector Shri M G Rajamanickam, will be present among a host of other dignitaries.
